Dia de los Muertos

Throughout Mexico Dia De Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) is celebrated. Over the past decade, or so, it has begun to morph into a tourist attraction, melding the traditions of Dia de los Muertos with Halloween. In this gallery there are images from both sides of this; the traditional, and the toursit version.

  • A traditional Altar. The celebration of Dia de los Muertos is comprised of a special meal, and an Altar that is constructed to pay homage to the dead loved ones. On the Altar is placed the foods, and beverages that the deceased enjoyed while alive. Photographs of the deceased are also placed on the Altar.
