Henequen

Early on a foggy morning the men begin cutting the henequen, in a field on the outskirts of Telchac Pueblo, in Yucatan, Mexico. This is a pleasant time, as the air is cool, and the direct rays of the sun are blocked by the fog. This is as manual as manual labor gets. The ground is laden with large rocks, and small cactus. The tips of each of the henequen leaves is equipped with a long, and very sharp spike. The majority of the working day is spent bent over, while reaching, and cutting.
